Mira Sorvino, an award-winning actress and human rights activist, was appointed in February as a goodwill ambassador for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

The appointment of Mira Sorvino as a UN goodwill ambassador took place in New York at the same time that UNODC launched its first Global Report on Trafficking in Persons.

Based on data gathered from 155 countries, the report includes an overview of trafficking patterns, legal steps taken in response, and information on reported cases of trafficking in persons.
