Actress Mira Sorvino appointed Goodwill Ambassador against human trafficking

The US Academy-award winning actress and human rights activist, Mira Sorvino has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Ms. Sorvino will focus her advocacy efforts on combating human trafficking. In this interview with UN Radio's Bissera Kostova, Mira Sorvino explains that she first got involved in this issue as an ambassador for Amnesty International's campaign to stop violence against women.
Indian women press for decent work on World Day of Social Justice
Tackling poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion are three core areas for social development. And for this reason, the UN has declared February 20th as the World Day of Social Justice. The day was officially launched at UN headquarters in New York.
