UNHCR - the UN's Refugee Agency has asked the Thai Government for access to two groups of Rohingya boat people who are in custody in Southern Thailand in an effort to assess their situation and determine whether any of them are in need of international protection. In addition, the UNHCR gives an update on the current situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where thousands more of civilians have fled their homes to escape deadly raids by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in north-eastern DRC.
