The UN General Assembly was meeting for a second day Friday in a resumed emergency session to address the mounting death toll and widespread suffering among civilians in the three-week-old Gaza crisis. General Assembly President Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann told the Assembly the session was concerned because, despite the adoption of a Security Council resolution calling for an immediated ceasefire, the relentless assault continued.
The Non-Aligned Movement vigorously condemns Israel's escalation of military aggression against Palestinians
Meanwhile, during the Security Council's meeting which led the call for a ceasefire, Cuba, speaking on behalf of the Non-Alligned Movement, said the grouping vigorously condemned the escalation of the military aggression being carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Ambassador Abelardo Moreno said the Movement is gravely concerned by the Israeli ground invasion into Gaza in flagrant defiance of calls by the international community for a cessation of military activities.
Grenada says the very survival of small island developing states is threatened by climate change

Grenada's Minister of State Sylvester Quarles, speaking on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States -AOSIS - a grouping of 43 countries said those States are most vulnerable to the negative impacts of climate change with many of them find their very survival as countries and communities threatened by climate change.
Jamaica says it supports the right of States to the peaceful use of nuclear energy
Jamaica supports the right of all States to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. That's what Ambassador Raymond Wolfe told the General Assembly's committee dealing with Disarmament and International Security during its discussion on disarmament.
He said concomitant with this right is the corresponding responsibility to commit to verification, monitoring and safeguard provisions by the International Atomic Energy Agency-IAEA.
