Work of the UN Population Fund in conflict-ridden Gaza
Women: a weekly 14-minute news magazine that looks at issues affecting women around the world.
For pregnant women in Gaza, the current hostilities are making an already challenging situation even more difficult. With delivery wards being used as surgical facilities to treat the wounded, for example, more women are forced to deliver at home. The UN Population Fund supported a hotline in Gaza and the West Bank where trained personnel helped family members through home deliveries, but with no electricity that hotline no longer functions. As Pamela Delargy of UNFPA tells UN Radio's Gerry Adams, they can now only wonder what is happening to women and their infants.

Dalit women are the most vulnerable. Our correspondent in Nepal Sophie Boudre reports on a new UN programme that's helping empower women.
Women and climate change
When joining MEDEP, Dhan Sari received training and a sewing machine. She now earns a modest but steady income of 80 dollars per month, and was able to get a loan from the bank to buy a new roof for her house. She says her family's life changed for the better.
