Mixed reaction to UN Security Council resolution on Gaza

Both Israelis and Palestinians have ignored calls by the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert rejected the UN resolution as "unworkable". The Israeli air force launched up to 50 air strikes and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip while Hamas fired rockets into Southern Israel. The council's resolution was adopted by a vote of 14 in favor with 1 abstention- the United States. The US abstention avoided a veto of the resolution. Despite the abstention, Amr Moussa, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States applauded the passage of the resolution saying he looks forward to a period of cease fire and withdrawal. However, he says it's regrettable that more people died even while the draft resolution was being discussed. He says it's time for the resumption of humanitarian assistance to Gaza and to begin repairing the infrastructure of Gaza.
