On-going violence in Gaza making humanitarian efforts extremely difficult

The continuing violence in Gaza is making humanitarian efforts increasingly difficult and in some cases impossible. During the three-hour window for the cease fire in Gaza a driver for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees was killed resulting in UNRWA's suspension of aid delivery until the safety of its workers can be guaranteed. John Ging, the Director of Operations says it wasn't just this incident, but instead an accumulation of incidents which lead the agency to make what he described as a very difficult decision. The Director says he's lost confidence in the mechanism agreed to with the Israeli authorities for the delivery of humanitarian assistance. UNRWA provides food assistance to a total of one million people in the Gaza Strip.
