Security Council fails to reach agreement on response to on-going Gaza conflict

The UN Security Council remains stalled on a statement regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Council members are considering two proposals - a draft presidential statement proposed by France along with a draft resolution presented by Libya. US UN Permanent Representative Zalmay Khalilzad favors the French PRST and is hopeful others members will sign on. The Council has failed to issue a statement on the Israeli military operation in Gaza since it began twelve days ago.
