Situation in the Georgian-Abkhaz Conflict Zone Remain Tense - DPKO Director

The Director of the Asia and Middle East Division of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations says the situation between Georgia and Abkhazia remains tense. The Director says the UN Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) has witnessed movement by Russia to the Abkhaz-controlled side of the border but has been unable to verify claims by the Abkhaz side that Georgia has been active on its side of the ceasefire line due to insecurity in the region.
