France Proposes - Russia Opposes Security Council Resolution on Pulling Troops Out of Georgia

Russia and France had been working on a Security Council resolution that Moscow thought would contain the exact wording in a six point Georgia peace plan that has been agreed to by all sides. Instead, France focused on only two points with a particular emphasis on calling for an immediate Russian withdrawal from Georgia. France's Deputy UN Ambassador Jean Pierre Lacroix says that's necessary because Russia is not pulling out. Russia's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin says his country is and the new resolution is unfair.

Jerry Piasecki reports.
