UN Postal Agency Says Webmail is NOT a Threat to Traditional Mail

The postal service needs to be more responsive to digital technology according to The Universal Postal Union, UPU, an international organization that coordinates policies between member nations including the United States. However the UN agency says the internet and webmail is NOT a threat to postal mail. That was the message at the start of 24th Universal Postal Congress taking place in Geneva. More than 2,000 delegates from the UPU's 191 member countries are gathering to discuss the major issues affecting the global postal sector today. By the end of the conference, the 2008 Congress will adopt a World Postal Strategy that will serve as a roadmap for member countries and UPU bodies until the next Congress in 2012. Julie Walker reports. Full audio available below.
