UN Security Council Condemns Deadly Ambush and Attack of UNAMID Force

The UN security Council has strongly condemned the deadly ambush and attack on UNAMID (the UN/African Union Mission in Darfur). The July 8th attack left seven dead and 22 wounded. The attack was carried out by 200 armed militiamen on horses and driving sports utility vehicles. The Council is also expected to approve a new, one-year mandate for UNAMID beginning on August 1.
