Arab nations are preparing a draft resolution to be presented to the Security Council as soon as possible.

Word of this comes from Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki.
He says Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected in New York Tuesday and will continue deliberations in order to prepare the draft resolution that hopefully will be discussed and passed by the Security Council:

"And we hope that during the same session the council will adopt and pass the resolution ending the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire; lifting the siege; opening the crossings between Gaza and Israel and also between Gaza and Egypt according to the agreement that was really reached in 2005 and also allowing humanitarian aid medication to enter into Gaza and of course having international observers to be dispersed along the different crossings and an international force to provide protection for the Palestinian people."

Al Malki says a coordinating meeting is planned for Monday afternoon between the Arab foreign ministers and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
He says as many as nine Arab foreign ministers were coming to New York to show "harmony among Arabs" and support for an end to the Israeli military action in Gaza.
