Mahmoud Dahir, the Director of the WHO Office in Gaza says claims that medical teams are being targeted during the fighting are being taken seriously. He says there have already been casualties among medical staff.

"One doctor was killed and one paramedic was killed. Some other paramedics were injured. The WHO team is trying to configure whether the accident is true and if yes this is a concern because we call always to all parties to alleviate and eliminate the hazard that could be caused to our medical teams while they are doing their job."

The Director says medical teams and facilities should not be targeted during conflict in order to ensure appropriate care for the injured.
