Red Cross concerned about deteriorating health conditions in Gaza
As the Israeli assault against Gaza enters its fifth day the International Committee of the Red Cross is expressing concern about deteriorating health care conditions.
Anne-Sophie Bonefeld, the ICRC Spokesperson in Jerusalem says the situation in Gaza hospitals is especially worrisome due to the shortage of medical supplies and overcrowding.
"The intensive ward only has space for 43 patients which means that basically when people are operated on or they have been stabilized they will be moved to other hospitals because there's simply not enough space."
The Spokesperson says many hospital windows - including those in the intensive care unit and the operating rooms - were destroyed due to the aerial bombardment which she says is particularly troublesome given the cold weather.
