The World Health Organization-WHO says the figures for cholera in Zimbabwe continue to go up.

WHO says there are currently close to 30,000 cases with over 1,500 deaths and these figures have continued to go up quite substantially during this month.
Spokesman Gregory Hartl says the agency still doesn't know if the end of the outbreak is near or, if these figures will continue to go up.

"Certainly the rainy season is still to come and normally the rainy season means more cases. It doesn't always mean more cases, but often the rainy season means more cases. And also, not all health districts in Zimbabwe are reporting their cases so it might be that once we get reports from these other districts that we will see a revision of the figures upwards of cholera cases."

Hartl says WHO has always been engaged with the Ministry of Health in Zimbabwe and as a result, has been able to react quickly to the cholera outbreak.
