Cholera death toll continues to rise in Zimbabwe

Almost 50 more people have died from cholera in Zimbabwe in the past three days.

The World Health Organization -WHO - says the death toll from the outbreak reached 1,564 on Sunday.
On 25 December, Christmas day, the figure was 1,518.
WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl says the agency is still working on the assumption that the disease could affect up to 60,000 people.
The UN health agency has put the number of cholera cases in Zimbabwe at more than 26,000.
Cholera is spread through contaminated water supplies.
