Well that warm feeling isn't just in your mind.
The World Meteorological Organization says this year is likely going to rank as the tenth warmest year on record since record-keeping began in 1850.
Head of the WMO Michel Jarraud says all the years which are warmer than this year occurred in the last 12 years -something that confirms that the warming trend continues.

"This Northern hemisphere was warmer than the Southern hemisphere and to a large extent can be explained by the fact that there is a larger amount of ocean in the Southern hemisphere."

Jarraud says the first part of this year was marked by the La Nina event which is characterized by the cooler than usual surface waters in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean.
He adds this affects the temperature of the planet to a significant degree.
