UN Needs $100m for Africa's Great Lakes Region

The United Nations needs more than a hundred million dollars to address needs in Africa's Great Lakes Region.
According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than $80 million of the money is being requested for food assistance to address shortfalls for nearly two million beneficiaries in Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania.These beneficiaries include refugees, internally displaced persons, those returning to their places of origin, women, children and HIV/AIDS sufferers.OCHA says that an estimated six million people remain displaced and millions more are affected by food insecurity, chronic poverty and a lack of basic resources.
