FIFA and WHO Promote Human Rights Approach to HIV/AIDS
10/12/2004
The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the World Health Organization have joined forces to raise awareness of the key linkages between HIV/AIDS and human rights.
To mark Human Rights Day, FIFA and the UN health agency are promoting a cartoon booklet called "HIV/AIDS- Stand Up for Human Rights". It begins with young soccer players from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe discussing HIV/AIDS and the rights of people living with the disease. The booklet is being distributed via five of FIFA's national football associations in Botswana, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia.
