28/12/2004
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), has appealed for more than four million dollars to provide emergency assistance to survivors of Sunday's tidal waves and flooding disaster in Sri Lanka.
Spokesman Jean-Phillipe Chauzy:
"The funds will be used to provide food, drinking water, non-food relief items such as mats, blankets, clothing, mosquito nets, kitchen utensils, as well as shelter materials, tools and basic medicines for up to 100-thousand people who are living in coastal areas of Sri Lanka,..."
Mr. Chauzy says IOM is working with the Sri Lankan Government to coordinate the distribution of relief supplies.
