The UN Food and Agriculture Organization is conducting damage assessment missions in the countries affected to assess the impact on agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Head of the FAO's Emergency Operations Service, Fernanda Guerrieri, says "these communities have lost all their productive assets." She says while there are more pressing needs at the moment, "the affected communities need to restart productive activities as soon as possible so that they can feed themselves and to avoid mass migration of the displaced to already overpopulated cities."
