More than a hundred environment ministers gather in the United Arab Emirates next week for discussions on how best to deliver sustainable energy and more environmentally-friendly tourism.

The head of the UN environment Programme Klaus Toepfer says there is a "renaissance in the commitment to global environmental issues" which is being "driven partly by the soaring demand and price for fossil fuels." He says it's also being fueled "by a growing recognition, especially in developing countries, that environmental degradation cannot continue."
