Australia Becomes Latest Country to Ratify Kyoto Protocol
12/12/2007
And still on the climate change conference in Bali, Australia has become the latest country to ratify the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing the greenhouse gases that cause climate change.
UN Radio's Donn Bobb reports from Bali:
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd handed over the ratification documents to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a ceremony at the climate change conference on the Indonesian island of Bali that is thrashing out an agreement to curb greenhouse gases beyond 2012. Ratification takes effect a full 90 days after a country's commitment is handed to the United Nations meaning that Australia will become a full member of the Kyoto protocol next March.
