UN Political Chief Optimistic Following Talks in Cyprus

The head of the UN Department for Political Affairs, B. Lynn Pascoe, has given an upbeat assessment on renewed efforts to reunite Cyprus.
Mr. Pascoe, who just ended a three-day visit to the Mediterranean island, told journalists he will present a "positive and hopeful" report to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council in New York.UN peacekeepers have been in Cyprus since 1964 following an outbreak of violence between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities stemming from a series of constitutional crises.
UN Radio's Carlos Araujo interviewed the spokesman at the UN mission in Cyprus, Jose Diaz, about Mr. Pascoe's visit.
