UN Mission Condemns Looting and Vandalism in Haiti

The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) has strongly condemned the looting acts of vandalism perpetrated Thursday in the town of Les Cayes by an angry crowd of 2000 protesting the sharp rise in the cost of living in Haiti.

The demonstrators burned tires and threw stones at the local UN office.

And although a small number of demonstrators broke into the UN compound, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations says no damage was done to the premises.

This is Donn Bobb reporting for United Nations Radio.
