Hope for victims of rape in the DR Congo
15/04/2008
Courage and determination of both victims of rape and the doctors and lawyers who help them - that is what impressed Francoise Girard during her recent trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Francoise is Director of the Public Health Programme at the Open Society Institute based in New York. She came to our studio to talk about what she saw in the DRC, where the Open Society Institute along with the UN, tries to help women who have been raped. In recent years, rape has become a weapon of war, and DRC is no exception.
