UNHCR's spokesperson in the country, Pumla Rulashe says a variety of reasons, including frustrations over lack of service delivery in informal settlements, appear to have sparked the attacks.
-Rebuilding Sierra Leone's energy sector is one of the issues discussed during this week's session of the UN Peacebuilding Commission in New York. The Peacebuilding Cooperation Framework, adopted in December last year as a guideline for cooperation with the government of Sierra Leone, identifies generating electricity as a top priority.
-Nigeria is struggling to bring the transmission of the polio virus under control. The annual World Health Assembly in Geneva is calling for increased efforts to eradicate the disease. UN Radio's Patrick Maigua reports from Geneva.
