UN Human Rights Council discusses right to food

The worsening world food crisis was the focus of debate Thursday as the UN Human Rights Council opened its special session on the negative impact on the realization of the right to food.

The top UN human rights official Louise Arbour says while it is important to respond to emergencies and address conditions of hunger, a human rights focus will contribute to making solutions more durable and equitable.
