The AIDS epidemic in Africa: progress and challenges

Africa is the continent that has been the hardest hit by the AIDS pandemic. But in the past five years remarkable progress has been made in reaching millions of Africans with life-saving anti-retrovirals. On the eve of the UN's high-level meeting on HIV/AIDS in New York, a report was presented to the UN Secretary-General detailing the progress and challenges of confronting AIDS in Africa.
