Security Council condemns suicide bombing in Kabul
The UN Security Council has strongly condemned the suicide bombing that killed more than 40 people and wounded nearly 150 others outside the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan.
The members of the Council underlined the need to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of "this reprehensible act of terrorism to justice."In a statement read out by the Council's president for the month of July, Ambassador Le Luong Minh of Viet Nam, the Council urged all States to cooperate actively with the Afghan authorities.
"The members of the Security Council reiterated their concern at the threats posed by the Taliban, Al-Qaida, illegal armed groups, criminals and those involved in the illicit narcotics production and trafficking, to the local population, national security forces, international military and international assistance efforts in Afghanistan."
Members of the Security Council also reaffirmed the need to combat by all means, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
