AIDS conference looks to the future of the epidemic

In the 25 years since the discovery of HIV, 25 million people have died of AIDS and the epidemic shows no signs of slowing down. But the nature of the epidemic is changing and treatment and prevention methods must keep up with its evolution. That's why the 17th International AIDS Conference in Mexico City looked towards the future and asked what will the epidemic look like in 2031. Dr. Anthony Fauci, who heads the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases says that while the current AIDS treatment allows people with the disease to live normal lives, there is still no cure for AIDS and that is what needs to be found in order to beat the epidemic.
