Georgia warns "credibility of Security Council at stake"

Georgia has warned that inaction could affect the credibility of the Security Council.

Georgian Ambassador Irakli Alasania told reporters he briefed the Security Council on the tragic developments saying Russia has changed the history back to the Cold War trying to subdue and crush a young democracy with the full invasion of Georgia.

"Now I think the Security Council has to act. Inaction of the Security Council's predecessor-League of Nations led to the occupation of Georgia in 1921. If this Organization and Security Council has any credibility today, the proposed action by the French delegation on the draft resolution should be passed."

Ambassador Alasania says Georgia is waiting and hoping that the resolution would be enacted by the Security Council.
