Russia's recognition of breakaway Georgian regions discussed

The UN Security Council met for the sixth time on Thursday to discuss the situation in Georgia since hostilities broke out there earlier this month. The occasion this time was the move by Russia to recognize the independence of the Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Georgia's UN Ambassador Irakli Alasania requested the public meeting of the Security Council.
