Hurricanes and storms wreak havoc in Cuba and Haiti

As you heard in the news, Hurricane Ike has caused massive destruction in the Caribbean region. Overnight, the hurricane battered northern Cuba with giant waves and torrential rains. Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated along the northern coast. The spokesperson for the UN humanitarian affairs office in Geneva, OCHA, Elizabeth Byrs, says that Hurricane Ike has added to the death toll in Haiti which has already been badly hit by three storms: Fay, Gustav and Hannah.
