How Asia is faring in its pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals
The world is on track to reduce by half global poverty by 2015, thanks to progress made in East Asia, particularly China, according to the latest progress report on the Millennium Development Goals, or MDGs. World Suicide Prevention Day
One million people in the world commit suicide each year. That's more people than are killed in wars, terrorist attacks and homicides. To bring attention to this growing cause of preventable deaths, September 10th has been designated as World Suicide Prevention Day. 60 percent of the world's suicides occur in Asia.
