Women in DR Congo speak out against rape
12/09/2008
Women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are speaking out against rape in two events organized by the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF and an organization known as V-Day. These events are part of the campaign called, Stop Raping Our Greatest Resource: Power to Women and Girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo started last year. The first event today is in Goma, the capital of the North Kivu province in the eastern part of the country. UNICEF spokesman in the Congo, Jaya Murthy, tells UN Radio's Alpha Diallo that the event is historic.
