Iran's President dismisses allegations of nuclear weapons programme
23/09/2008
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, giving a press conference at the UN, said the International Atomic Energy Agency must not give in to political pressure from the United States.
The agency said on Tuesday that Iran is not cooperating with its request to disprove allegations that there may be a military dimension to its nuclear programme. President Ahmadinejad says that Iran is being prevented from carrying out its peaceful nuclear energy programme, yet it has not been shown proof of the allegations, said to be provided by the US."If we are told that unknown or undeclared efforts must be clarified to the Agency, we've said there are none whatsoever, and if so, please tell us which ones. Now, they are in fact asking us to prove something that does not exist - to prove a non-existence. And that is impossible."
President Ahmadinejad stressed that the language of force will have no effect on Iran.
