15/10/2008
Cancer is growing very fast in Africa where there are limited or no resources available for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. But last year, Zambia which is grappling with the disease opened its first specialized cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre. The hospital's Acting Executive Director, Dr. Kennedy Lishimpi was recently in Vienna, Austria, at the General conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency which supported the building of the hospital. She told Louise Potterton that since the centre opened last year, it has seen over 1,000 patients.
