DPRK suffers from serious food shortages

Despite a recent improvement in harvests and record donations from the World Food Programme, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is facing its worst food crisis in more than a decade. The UN's Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the country says up to two-thirds of all North Koreans are deprived of sufficient food, and compared to four years ago, twice as many children are now suffering from diarrhea.
