A preview of tonight's UN day concert

A concert by the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, acclaimed cellist and United Nations Messenger of Peace, will mark this year's celebration of United Nations Day in New York.

The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma was founded in 1998 by Yo-Yo Ma to promote creative cross-cultural exchange and learning through the arts. The project takes its inspiration from the historic Silk Road trading route, using it as a modern metaphor for multicultural and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Ensemble features internationally renowned musicians from Azerbaijan, Canada, China, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lebanon, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.

Here for your listening pleasure are some excerpts of Yo-Yo Ma's comments from today's 10th anniversary celebration of the Silk Road Project and you will also hear one of the music that will be performed for tonight's concert.
