Stamping out child sexual exploitation and abuse

Experts from around the world are meeting this week in Brazil to address the scourge of child sexual exploitation. The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) says recent studies find abuse is on the rise. Children and adolescents are being trafficked for sexual purposes, or fall victim when their families migrate from rural to urban areas. In conflict zones, rape is used as a weapon of war and oftentimes young girls are targeted. Furthermore, technology such as the internet and mobile phones is perpetuating the problem through chat rooms and transmission of child pornography. UN Radio's Carlos Araújo is covering the conference. He sat down with UNICEF director Ann Veneman to get a scope of the problem.
