Killers of Israelis can be held accountable under international criminal law

Individuals who killed four Israelis, including a pregnant woman in West Bank on Tuesday "can be held accountable under international criminal law" says UN human rights chief, Navi Pillay.

Ms. Pillay on Thursday strongly condemned that attack in which the Israelis were shot dead and another one on Wednesday which wounded two people.

She says these attacks are aimed at undermining the current round of peace talks taking place between Israeli and Palestinian leaders in Washington D.C.

Ms Pillay notes that Hamas has claimed responsibility for the armed attacks against Israelis in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The High Commissioner joins UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon and his Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Robert Serry in calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
