Police Week which began at UN Headquarters in New York on Monday, is a "unique time" for all involved in policing to exchange experience and learn from each other.

That's the view of Luis Carrilho, who took up his latest post as the new UN Police Adviser with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) at the beginning of November.

He's served as UN Police Commissioner in three different peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic, Haiti and Timo-Leste.

Most recently Mr Carrilho held a senior job with the Portuguese police service, heading up internal security.

Florence Westergard asked him about the week ahead, and what his main priorities were in his new role.
