Life in war-torn Yemen was already a daily struggle for the average citizen, but a blockade imposed last week is making conditions even worse, a senior UN aid official in the country has said.

George Khoury, Director of the UN humanitarian affairs office in the country, said despite a partial lifting of the blockade, his staff is struggling to help people weary of war.

A Saudi-led military coalition that has been battling Iranian-backed rebels for the past three years implemented the blockade on Yemen's air, sea and land ports in response to the firing of a ballistic missile into Saudi territory.

Speaking from the capital, Sana'a, Mr Khoury told Reem Abaza how the decision is affecting ordinary people and the aid workers supporting them.
