Expressing their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Egypt, members of the Security Council strongly condemned Friday's terrorist attack.

According to media reports, the bus carrying Coptic Christians to a monastery in Minya province was attacked by a group of armed and masked men.

Council members underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice.

They urged all States to cooperate actively with the Government of Egypt and all other relevant authorities in this regard.

Any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, the statement concluded.
