A suicide attack outside Afghanistan's Supreme Court in the capital city of Kabul has been condemned by the UN Secretary-General.

At least twenty people were killed in the incident, many of them women, the UN Mission in the country, UNAMA, reports.

Jocelyne Sambira has more.

The indiscriminate attacks against Afghan civilians, including court employees, cannot be justified, UN chief António Guterres said as he called for the perpetrators of Tuesday's bombing to face justice.

Such attacks violate human rights and international law, the Secretary-General added.

According to media reports, the suicide bomber targeted a bus carrying employees of the court during the afternoon rush hour.

The UN in Afghanistan has expressed concern about the mounting death toll and is working to verify the number of those injured and killed.
