Comprehensive sex education programmes are important to stop the spread of HIV among young people, a Programme Director for the Uganda Network of Young Positives has said.

Nicholas Niwagaba, who is also a member of the UNAIDS network called Act2015, spoke on the margins of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum held at UN headquarters this week.

Uganda's leaders made history in the early 1990s in curbing the transmission of HIV infections in the country, but most of the gains have been reversed, he said.

Mr Niwagaba talked to Jocelyne Sambira about his organization's efforts to encourage young people to get tested as well as its push for youth-friendly health services.
