We're bring you today's programme from the official opening of a once-every-20 years event that will help decide the future growth and sustainability of cities and towns across the world…

Thousands have gathered in this lush equatorial capital – one of the first ever World Heritage Sites – to launch the New Urban Agenda which will set global standards for cities everywhere.

The UN Secretary-General's just said the whole 2030 development agenda, depends in large part on making our growing cities "inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable."

We'll have a lot more on this morning's events here in the heart of Quito…

And we'll hear how fears for up to 1.5 million civilians trapped inside the Iraqi city of Mosul are growing, as coalition forces begin the operation to recapture it from ISIL terrorist fighters…..
