Hate speech and political point-scoring at the expense of migrants and refugees mask the huge benefits they bring, UN Geneva chief Michael Møller said Friday.

Drawing on his positive experiences in helping to resettle millions of boat people from Vietnam in the late 1970s when he worked for the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, Mr Møller said that he is "mystified" by the negative narrative that dominates migration.

He explained to Daniel Johnson what he hopes to see at the upcoming Migration and Refugee summit at the UN in New York.
